Huron's software assists healthcare organizations streamline insurance certification and compliance-related tasks. |
By using standards-based HL7® interfaces, Huron's software products can directly support, and integrate within, a healthcare organization's basic processes. These products assist with patient access activities, insurance requirements/payments, and coordination of patient care support processes (e.g., case management, discharge planning). Huron's primary software product is a rules-based system. That is, it specifies the activities that must be performed for a particular patient encounter based upon the characteristics (or values of particular data elements) for that patient. An Aetna outpatient has different requirements (or rules) than an Aetna inpatient or a Blue Cross outpatient or a Medicare outpatient. Huron's software allows a healthcare institution to identify the various requirements for each patient, and to help assure that all such requirements are met in a timely manner. Huron refers to its approach to a healthcare rules-based system as RulePro Technology. RulePro Technology was developed in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. RulePro Technology is available in the RulePro® system, which can be applied to multiple application areas, the most common of which are insurance certification and compliance-related activities.
